Moo, The Bride’s Wrong

Mervin’s look of pleasure slowly turns to horror, as Pomegranate’s skin changes to a more yellowish hue and her nails extend, and she starts eating his cock. Like, literally. Ow.

Outside, Tosh, hearing his screams, tells Banana to stay where he is and bursts into the room holding her gun out. Pomegranate’s sitting on the bed, casually applying lipstick. Tosh asks what she’s done with Mervin, then spots his body by the side of the bed. Banana wanders in and asks what’s going on, and Pomegranate takes the opportunity provided by this momentary distraction to get the jump on Tosh and knock her out, then holds Banana against the wall by his throat. He is taking a real beating here. I feel a strange lack of sympathy. “Lucky for you, I’m watching my figure,” Pomegranate says, “But maybe I’ll keep you for tea.” Wow, there is just no way to deliver that line well.

Hub. Jack’s kicking himself for not realising Teeth was a Nostrovite earlier, but Owen tells him not to beat himself up about it. “That’s the problem with shapeshifters, isn’t it, you never know what you’re looking at.” Ianto still doesn’t know what the big danger is here, since Teeth is dead, so Owen and Jack explain; Nostrovites mate for life, and childbirth involves the male impregnating a host with the fertilised eggs, and then the female ripping them out when they’re done incubating. “Momma’s out there right now, looking for Gwen.” The three of them gear up to go crash the wedding.

Heartbreak Hotel. Gwen passes Pomegranate on the stairs, and has a sudden spasm in her belly. Pomegranate offers Gwen a helping hand and says “He’ll be flexing his muscles, not long to go now”, and watches her go upstairs with a really creepy and obvious hunger.

Outside the Hub, Jack and Owen get ready to hop in the Hyena (Ianto’s in the driving seat already). Jack reports that Tosh isn’t responding to his calls. He asks Owen if he’s really ready for this mission, because Nostrovites are dangerous beasts. Owen points out that they’d be just as dangerous if he wasn’t all zombified. Jack notices that he’s packing the Singularity Scalpel, and asks what he thinks he’s doing with that. Owen tells him that they might not have time to get Gwen back to the Hub, and reminds him that he saved Martha with it before. Jack’s still weary, but Ianto’s convinced at least. “What is it with you?” Jack whines at him. “Ever since Owen died, all you ever do is agree with him!” Ianto says he was brought up to never speak ill of the dead, “even if they still do most of the talking for themselves.” That bit would have worked a whole lot better if we’d actually been shown any instances of Ianto agreeing with Owen since he died, besides the one in this scene.
