LSAS tells Melissa that she’s always talking about how great she is, and how her negotiation skills are second to none and reads from her CV about how she supposedly teaches her boss how to do his job. Oh, I bet she does. But LSAS has seen none of this on any of the four tasks so far. Melissa says she appreciates the feedback, but LSAS has had enough of that word from her. “Just tell me what it is I’m missing.” Melissa says she has “a bag of potential skills”, and that she’s thrown herself 100% into every task, and LSAS compares her to a knock-off DVD that looks convincing at first, but turns out to be impossible to follow. Melissa stares, trying to figure out how he could possibly confuse her with a small silver disc, and then slowly says “I understand what you’re saying, Sir… Lord.” But she doesn’t. And she never will. She makes a desperate bid for the “I was PM of a winning team last week” credit, even though he already told her last week that he gives her no credit for that.
He goes to the other two for the requisite “Why shouldn’t I fire you?”, but it’s pretty clear that his mind is already made up here. Jamie gets super intense about how, when he is not the PM, the PM always leans on him, and “you can lean on me damn hard”, and when he is the PM, he will lead the team to victory. Susprisingly, LSAS doesn’t point out that he lead them to a defeat in this case, making that a bit of a hollow claim. He’s not even paying attention to the others, that’s how much he wants to get rid of Melissa.
He prefaces the question to Stuart Baggs™ by saying that a lot of what comes out of his mouth is a lot of hot air, so “in the interest of climate change”, make sure he thinks before he talks. What he’s really saying is “I really want to fire Melissa, so please don’t say something stupid so I have to fire you.” Stuart Baggs™ obliges by talking about how he is so very young, but already successful, and he’s achieved all that with relatively few resources. So given a chances to play around with LSAS’s “massive resources”, nudge nudge, wink wink, it logically follows that he should be able to achieve even further greatness. There’s also a little bit of “I haven’t been PM yet” shoved in there, which really, they all need to stop doing.
